Snapchat is a common social media messaging app with more entertaining features than other similar apps. On Snapchat, you can send and receive snaps (photos and videos) with various filters. After your friend sees the snap, the snaps you give them as a message will vanish. This is a one-of-a-kind feature that can only be found in the Snapchat app. Although Facebook Messenger has a similar function where you can set a timer to automatically delete your messages, the ‘disappear post’ feature is only available in the secret message.
When you send messages to your friend often or spend the majority of your time talking and sharing snaps with them, Snapchat considers them to be your best friend and adds them to your best friend list automatically. Since your friend is on your best friend list, you might have seen emoji next to their name in the chat portion.
Before discussing how to remove someone from Snapchat best friend let us discuss how Snapchat’s best friend’ works.
Snapchat’s Best Friends list keeps track of the people you talk to the most. When you submit a new snap, it appears at the top of your main friend's list, making certain users more available.
But how does Snapchat determine which of your friends are your Best Friends? It’s very straightforward. You may have noticed that each user has a Snap Score, which measures how many Snaps they’ve submitted and received since joining. Individual interactions between you and your friends are given a similar ranking. The higher your friendship score becomes, the more you talk with a specific individual. Snapchat uses these ratings to build your Best Friends list, which ranks the friends you chat with the most in order of friendship ranking.
How to Remove Best Friends on Snapchat
1. Block The User
There are three methods for deleting a user from the Snapchat Best Friends list. All have advantages and disadvantages, so choose carefully.
Blocking a user is the first step in excluding them from your Best Friends list. When you block anyone, they will be removed from both your Best Friends list and your contact list. This immediately reduces the amount of contact between you and the user to zero. You’ll also need to re-add the user as a friend if you want to keep them on your contact list (they will receive notification)
Open the Snapchat app and swipe right to enter the chats tab to block a Best Friend. Now scroll down to the user’s chat and press and hold on to it.
Tap More > Block in the popup settings. That is the only thing you need to do. The user will be removed from your list of Best Friends.
Your Snap score will be reset to zero if you re-add the user, and they will no longer be on your Best Friends list.
2. Start Snapping Another User
You can exclude a user from your Best Friends list by limiting your snaps to them and instead of sending snaps to a different user since Snapchat uses your interaction to determine who gets into your list. It’s worth noting that this procedure will take some time. This method would not allow you to delete a user from your Best Friends list overnight.
Also, merely refusing to give them snaps will not suffice. You would need to give snaps to another person to reduce your contact with your Best Friend.
This isn’t ideal, but it’s the only way after Snapchat closed the loophole that allowed you to block and then add users again. You must make use of the algorithm to your advantage. How do you do it? Send fewer Snaps and Chats to the person you no longer want to be identified as a Best Friend. Make anyone else a priority.
So, how long does Snapchat’s Best Friend emojis last? This is primarily determined by the number of connections you have and how often you communicate with them.
If you only know a few people on Snapchat, sending one Snap to them could instantly turn them into your Best Friend. You’ll also have a lot of Best Friends if you meet a lot of people and have a lot of Snapstreaks going on.
3. Hiding Identities
The third choice hides your Best Friend's identities. Assume that someone you meet often checks your mobile and is curious about who you communicate with on a regular basis. You should definitely improve your protection, but you do not want to absolutely lock anyone out of your phone. On the Send To phone, there’s nothing you can do to hide Best Friends, but you can hide it on the Chat screen.
By modifying the associated emoji, you can mask who your Best Friends are.

You might see a best friend of your friends in older versions of Snapchat, but these features are no longer available in the new Snapchat 2020, so you won’t be able to see your friends’ best friend. Only their closest friends are visible on their respective pages.
Since you can only see your best friend, you don’t have to manually mask them because Snapchat does it for you. If you’re still using an older version of Snapchat, follow the measures outlined above.
