It could be because the old phone number associated with the Google Account has now become obsolete and needs to e changed. Not only this reason but there could also be several other reasons as well. You may need to log in to the Google Account from some other place and don’t have the mobile phone with that number near you. In this case, you will face difficulty in retrieving any SMS or code sent to that mobile from Google while logging in process. If this is the case, you may have to immediately change the phone number and replace it on your Google Account with a number that is available to you nearby.
You may have also lost the device associated with the Phone Number that is linked to your Google Account. For this reason, you may also have to change the phone number. If this is the scenario, you will have to replace the old number with a new one on your Google Account.
How to Remove Phone Number from Google Account
- Open your Google Account
- Now select the tab “Personal Info”
- Next, go to the tab “Contact Info”
- Under Contact Info, you will get the option to change many details. Choose the option “Phone”.
- Under this section you can perform three actions: Add a Phone Number, Change the Phone Number or Delete your Phone Number.
For each of these actions, you shall come across a series of instructions prompting up after each step. All you have to do is follow the instructions in order and you shall be able to complete these actions without any hurdle. For changing, updating, or removing the phone number from Google Account, at multiple steps you will have to enter and confirm the password.
