After quarantine measures were implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020-21, Zoom’s software usage increased significantly globally. In counties like India, Australia and UK there is significant growth in usage of zoom application. Due to quarantine measures and lockdown imposed in countries like India every enterprises, companies, organization, corporate, groups or individual were conferencing there entire programs on zoom.
Many companies and organization were having secret and confidential meetings on zoom application. And as a result of this, zoom application software products have come under public and media scrutiny for security and privacy concerns. Zoom has been chastised for “security lapses and poor design choices” that have led to increased scrutiny of its software. The company has also been chastised for its policies on privacy and corporate data sharing. Security analysts and journalists have chastised the company for its lack of transparency and poor encryption practises.
As zoom have become most popular online conferencing tool many corporates and organization use this application to share some confidential and private data related to their company benefits and growth but many individual and head of organization have doubt as well as have concerned about getting their data leaked through this application via taking screen shots or granting access to unknown individuals in their meetings.
As meetings contains data, graphs and many confidential records of company there are chances of getting that data leaked through screenshots. As zoom application does not provide the settings to prevent the participants of the meeting to take screenshots while having a conference then organizations or corporate only have to take measures to prevent taking screenshots while having a meeting on zoom: Every individual should have been strictly instructed before holding a meeting while providing an invitation to join meeting that taking a screenshot of any data, graphs or any individual is strictly prohibited, if anyone caught doing this will have to face strict measures from authority. This might reduce the chance of taking screenshots while having a meeting. Another thing that may reduce the chance of taking screenshots is to instruct the members of the meeting to keep their device at some reasonable distance so that they cannot touch their device and take a screenshot.
