Let me ask you a question. Are you still in contact with school friends? Are you still in contact with your childhood friends?? If your answer is yes then I am sure you must be using WhatsApp. From the year 2009-2010, communication with other people has become a lot more flexible with the development of WhatsApp. In today’s time rarely there would be someone who must not be using WhatsApp. Whatsapp is a medium that has made our world very small and strongly connected.
Whatsapp has broken all the boundaries of the nation. If you are on WhatsApp then you can stay in touch with a friend or family who are living abroad. Moreover, there is one interesting feature which provides you to make a group of people of similar interests and can communicate with everyone at the same time, with this you don’t need to send the same message to everyone one by one. This will save much of your time as well as make the communication hassle-free.
But as we all know every coin has two sides, the same way the group message will make your communication faster and easier, it will also saturate your WhatsApp as well as device storage with hundreds of photos and videos, and conversations.
To avoid this issue WhatsApp has a provision to avoid the accumulation of chats and media by means of either deleting or clearing chats. Many times people get confused with these two terms deleting chats and clearing chats, as there is a minor difference between the two.
Let me first clear this confusion, and then we will discuss the method to delete messages from the group.
Clearing a chat: By selecting the clearing chat option, you are giving the command to delete all the messages, group conversations along any media in the group. But this will not remove that chat from the list of your chat or exit you from a group.
Deleting a chat: By deleting a chat you will delete all the messages, media along with that chat. That chat will also not remain part of your chat list. For deleting group conversation, you first need to get exit from the group.
If you are selecting delete chat for an individual chat, then you can again start your conversation with that person, but for a group chat, you have to select the clear chat option to delete messages if you wish to remain in the group.
Let’s see how you can use either of the methods to delete the messages in WhatsApp in android.
How to Delete All Messages from Whatsapp Group
If you wish to delete that chat then the process for both individual and group is somewhat different.
For individual Chat:
- Long press on the chat you wish to delete.
- On the top, you will get to see many options, select the delete option from that.
- As soon as you tap on the delete option, it will ask your permission of deleting media along with the conversation.
- Once you check that box, all the media and chats will be deleted along with that chat will also not be there in the chat list
For group chat:
- Open the group chat which you want to delete.
- Tap on the three vertical dots. This will open your menu.
- In the menu tap on “More”, here you will get to see an option as “Exit group” Tap on the exit group.
- Once you exit from the group, long press on the group icon. This will give you some options on the top.
- As soon as you tap on the delete option, it will ask your permission of deleting media along with the conversation.
- Once you check that box, all the media and chats will be deleted along with that chat will also not be there in the chat list
As told above this method of deleting the messages from the group as well as the individual chat was only working on the android phone. But if you are using iPhone or windows phone, then its process is a bit different.
